The Style Polaroid

On Wednesday I had the pleasure to be invited to an amazing event called “Lillet Pique Nique d’Eté” hosted by the brand Lillet, who produce an alcoholic drink you can mix with other ingredients to create incredibly delicious summer drinks. The picnic was organised in order to present their latest creation “Mademoiselle Lilly”.

Already on arrival I was fairly impressed by the stunning location just outside the city, “Aiola im Schloss”. The event was supposed to be held outside but due to the unpredictable weather it was relocated to the first floor of the majestic building on a small hill. The room was decorated beautifully, with pillows spread across the floor and flowers creating a magical atmosphere. The guests were all dressed in white and everyone was fully enjoying themselves, appreciating the view from the balcony overlooking the green landscape and taking pictures in a corner, using polaroid cameras.

The food and drinks that were served exceeded my expectations by miles and by adding Creme Bruleé and macarons to the menu it fit the theme of a French picnic in the countryside perfectly.

On this evening I met lots of other bloggers from my home town, who I had an amazing time with and I enjoyed meeting people who I share a passion with. I will have linked their blogs below as the blogger scene is all about supporting each other and I genuinely loved spending time with those amazing girls.

Working in an environment in which dress codes exist can be difficult during the hot summer months as you are challenged to find a balance between business look and comfort clothing. Very often, offices are cooled down to freezing temperatures and as soon as you step outside the sweat starts dripping down your neck. In order to avoid struggling with temperature difficulties, light baggy trousers and cardigans or dusters to easily throw on are the options to go for.

By dressing up casual baggy trousers, an office-appropriate look is created and you’re still making sure you will not get uncomfortable during the day or when leaving the office.

A dash of colour adds a twist to every boring office look and makes you protrude even in a working environment. Just because you work indoors and in an office doesn’t mean you don’t get to show your personality through your style, on the contrary, it gives you various opportunities to play with the dress code demanded by your company.

This year June and July have so far been the most stressful months I have ever experienced and exams and work have taken their toll on my mental and physical well being. Now that I can finally tick another term off my list of successfully completed uni semesters I can finally take a step back and reflect on the fact that I am now officially closer to my mid twenties than my early twenties.

It might sound ridiculous but turning 23 has undoubtedly caused a change in my world view. During the last year I was given some of the most amazing opportunities in my life, I was given time to travel, time to learn and time to discover. Now that full on adult life has come terrifyingly close, it makes one question if one has lived their youth to the fullest and even though I know that life doesn’t end after eventually graduating from university, it still makes you look back on what you had years ago, when rent and phone bills didn’t really matter at all. Even though you undoubtedly gain the luxury of freedom in terms of your decisions and the value of parental guidance, crossing that line from being a teenager to being a young adult does indeed carry responsibilities that one has to come to terms with. When I realised that even Harry Potter is now 20 years of age I have to admit that I indeed felt a tiny bit old.

In the past year I have finally fully understood what it means to live. That it’s not about the money you have but about the adventures you have, the things you discover and the stories deriving from them. Everyone always desperately keeps looking for their purpose in life and forget that there’s no  real purpose at all. The purpose of life is that it’s meant to be lived, lived, enjoyed and loved. And nothing other than that really matters.

The outfit:

As a lover of everything vintage, I am always on the hunt for new pieces to stock up my wardrobe with. As I had been looking for oversized, comfortable shorts for a while I was happy to stumble across these amazing shorts from Levis which are technically 2 sizes too big but exactly fulfil their purpose. In combination with a light of shoulder bodysuit and golden slides, a casual summer outfit is created that can be worn up and down with adjusting the accessories.
